I bought this kit so I could have an extra USB cable to leave at work and be able to charge the Nexus One in the car. I like to drain the battery down to nothing on my electronics so that the rechargeable battery’s life is extended; having the car charger is handy in a pinch. I’ve used it several times and it charges quite well. (Certainly better than my Blackberry car charger.) Highly recommend.

It protects the phone well like it says. Due to it’s rubbery material, it doesn’t want to go into your pocket. Instead it grips to whatever is around it so you have to pull some crazy maneuvers just to get it into you’re pocket. It also likes the pick up any lint that comes in contact with it, so after you manage to retrieve the phone from your pocket it’s covered in lint and looks dirty. I’ll probably replace it with a smooth plastic case in the near future.

Fantastic case for the N1. After using it for a few weeks, a few scratches have appeared on the case but nothing too unsightly just yet. I used to have a hard case for my MyTouch3G which I loved but having the N1 dock, I wanted something that I could remove easily. This fit the bill perfectly.

I order this along with my Nexus One, so I didn’t know it will fit correctly beforehand, but it worked well. The Nexus One as is was a bit slippery, but this case gave it a excellent grip. Also, this “Clear” version let the “Google” mark on the back cover visible.

A few things noticed.

- I felt that the case fit could have been tighter, but it’s perfectly fine.

- The hole for the microphone is a bit off the real location of the microphone on the bottom (this is why it’s 4 stars). The microphone is visible, but it’s very close to the edge of the hole on the case. I don’t know how it affects the microphone performance, but it’s still a bit disconcerting.

it feels fantastic, but the microphone holes, both the bottom and back are not perfect. for whatever reason, even after cutting the holes a bit larger, i still have complaints. people i have talked to say the sound is horrible with the case on. supposedly sounds like i am talking from the far end of a tunnel,.. or something.

But, that being said, the seller shipped quick.

This fits my Nexus One well, and is simple to place on and take off. It doesn’t protect the screen at all, but does a excellent job of protecting the rest of the phone while retaining phone functionality. My main problem with it is that with this case on the phone doesn’t slide in and out of my pocket easily, and it bulks it up enough that it doesn’t fit in some pockets. So I end up sliding it off when I want to just stick my phone in my pocket. Also, the fit is loose enough that dirt/sand can get in around the edges and get stuck between the phone and case.

This is my first Nexus One case buy but my sixth or seventh cell phone case in general. Over the years I’ve become very particular about my smartphone cases and there are certain things I look for in a case. Those can be summed up in three points. I look first for a hard case designed to protect, but not at the expense of marring the phone it is protecting (there are a lot of cases on the market that look excellent on but when you take them off you learn the case scraped up your phone). I DESPISE flimsy, rubbery “skin” or “gel” cases. I second look for a case that looks excellent (this is a matter of opinion) and will not fade, easily scratch or dull quickly. Lastly I look for a case that doesn’t obstruct, block or otherwise make inaccessible my phone’s features. With that out of the way, here are my opinions on the excellent and the terrible points of this Amzer case.

The Excellent:

- The case is hard plastic with a thin rubber layer on the outside, which means it is a hard, rigid case and not a flimsy “skin” case

- The case fits the phone and does not obstruct any ports or buttons BUT (see below)

- The case is noticeably thick and adds to the phone’s girth, but it is not terribly thick (the phone will not fit in the dock with the case on)

The Terrible:

- The way the case goes together does not fit rock solid. It “snaps” at four points near the corners, which leaves a excellent deal of area along the “seam” loose. The front and back have a very slight, but tactile, “shimmy” to them when on your phone and I am worried they will pop apart

- The case completely obstructs the charging light, which is very annoying

- The case probably will not withstand a drop and I expect that if it lands on an end it will split in two along the seam

- Due to it’s rubberized end it is a lint magnet

- Due again to it’s rubberized end, it “sticks” slightly in your pocket when you try to remove it

I should follow these up that I was an iPhone user that switched to the Nexus One. I LIKE my Nexus One compared to my ancient iPhone… but I LOVED my Incase Slider case I had for my iPhone. It was hard plastic, durable and had a rock solid feeling and it gave you the impression you could throw your phone at a wall and it would cradle it like a baby. So to be honest I am rating this Amzer case compared to my ancient Incase Slider case… in that matchup this Amzer fails miserably. But until Incase starts making cases for the Nexus One (which I doubt they will) I will have to keep this Amzer. Or until I find a better case.

My verdict: This case is not excellent, but it is not terrible. I would imagine Amzer will learn from their first attempt, improve their design and have a much nicer case the second go around. Either that or I am being hypercritical due to my personal preference for the Incase Slider design. As such I give this case three stars.

Case is pretty simple and works well. Snaps together and it’s simple to hold. The rubberized surface is really nice too as it doesn’t slide around and grips the hand nicely, doesn’t have the feel of silicon which annoys me.

Only huge complaint is I can see the clips wearing down if you take the case off frequently as I do when I place it on the dock (it covers up the pins the dock connects to and it doesn’t fit in the dock with the case on it).
